User Guide of Online Catalog

Advanced Search

Three more functions are provided in advanced search:

  1. Two searching conditions with different combinations can be set among the 8 search methods.
  2. Publication Year can be a range of period.
  3. User can sort the search result in "Title + Year", "Year + Title" or "Author + Title + Year" pattern.

Catalog

For searching with title, author or ISBN/ISSN, user can click the "Launch Search Engine" to look for the search result in Google or Bing.

Explanation:

  • Author: either person name or corporate name
  • Title: {main title} [videorecording / sound recording] / {author / state of responsibility}
  • Imprint: {place of publication} : {publisher} , {date of publication in year(s)}
  • Description: {number of page} : {illustration} ; {dimensions (height} + accompanying material
  • Note - Related materials: (optional) similar or related materials in SALU
  • Summary: (optional) brief introduction of the item
  • Content: (optional) table of content or index of the item
  • Discipline: (optional) subject
  • Link: (optional) recommended webpages with further information about the item
  • Title variatioins: (optional) other titles of the item
  • Location: item location (SALU / EDC / REF)
  • Call Number
  • Status: avaliable / on loan / suspected missing / missing / withdrawn / in archives / EDC/SALU use only / held by teachers

Some items may provide only few details of the item. Please consult the administration staff in SALU if necessary.


Explanation:

  • Note - Technical Details: {DVD format} ; {region code} ; {aspect ratio} ; {screen format} ; {audio info} ; {TV encoding system}
  • Note - Subtitles and Languages
  • Note - Original Version: (optional) original production of the item,
  • Note - Special Features / Bonus: (optional) extra materials in the item
  • Summary: (optional) brief introduction of the item
  • Content: (optional) table of content or index of the item
  • Discipline: (optional) subject
  • Link: (optional) recommended webpages with further information about the item
  • Title variations: (optional) other titles of the item
  • Location: item location (SALU / EDC / REF )
  • Call Number
  • Status: avaliable / on loan / suspected missing / missing / withdrawn / in archives / EDC/SALU use only / held by teachers

Some items may provide only few details of the item. Please consult the administration staff in SALU if necessary.


In the search result page, users are able to print / save desired item records for future use.

Step 1 : select items and then click "Print / Export".

Step 2 : users can print or export (save) the records.
(SALU does not provide printing service, however you can choose "Adobe PDF" printer to save the record in PDF format.)

Borrowing Record

The patron barcode can be found behind the student ID card.
For the first time to login to the system, please use the student ID as the pin (password).
In case of forgot the pin / password, please contact SALU Supervisor.


To renew particular items, select any item and then click "Renew" button.
To renew all items, just click "Renew All" button.
Each item can be renewed ONCE ONLY.
Overdue item cannot be renewed online, please bring them to SALU front desk for renewal.

Enter the date period in "YYYYMMDD" format and then click "Go".

Note:

1.    Special permission for extending loan period can be authorized by European Studies staff members in verbal or writing.

2.    ONLY the dictionaries with the code DICT BIL 3,4,6,7,8,16 and 17 are available for check-out.

3.    No loan may be renewed if the item has been requested by another borrower.
